What we collect when you contact us, what we do with it, and how to ask us to remove it.
Stronger Together, Lesser Garth is a group of residents formed after the flooding of 30 July 2026. This page explains what we do with personal information when you contact us through this website or by email.
We are a voluntary residents’ group, not a company or a public body. We keep as little information as we can, and we keep it among ourselves.
Who is responsible
The committee of Stronger Together, Lesser Garth is responsible for the information collected through this site. You can reach us at strongertogetherLG@outlook.com.
What we collect
If you fill in the form on our contact page, we collect what you put into it. Depending on what you are contacting us about, that may include your name, your email address, your phone number, your organisation, your address or street, whether you were evacuated, a description of the damage you experienced, whether you have photographs or video, whether your losses are insured or uninsured, and your message.
Only your name, your email address and your message are required. Everything else is optional, and you can leave out anything you would rather not tell us.
If you email us directly, we hold whatever is in your email.
Our website host also keeps standard server logs, which record things like the address of the device making a request and the pages it asked for. These are kept by the host for a limited period for security and diagnostic purposes.
Why we collect it
To reply to you. To understand how far the flooding reached and what it did, so that the picture we put to the organisations involved is built on real accounts rather than estimates. To let you know about meetings and developments if you have asked us to.
Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the consent box on the form or by choosing to email us. You can withdraw it at any time by telling us.
Who sees it
Only the committee. We do not sell information, we do not share it for marketing, and we do not pass it to the quarry operator, to insurers or to anyone else without asking you first.
We will not publish anything about you or your property without asking you first. If we want to use your account of what happened in correspondence with the council, a regulator, a politician or a journalist, we will ask you before we do it, and you can say no.
The information is held in three places: the website database with our hosting provider, WP Engine; the group’s email account with Microsoft; and, where committee members need it to do this work, on their own devices.
How long we keep it
We keep what you send us for as long as the group is active and pursuing these questions, and we review it once a year.
If you ask us to delete your information, we will do it and confirm when it is done.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to stop using it, or ask for a copy of it. Email strongertogetherLG@outlook.com and we will respond as quickly as we can.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.
